In Audacity stable I can record normally up to '0' before it clips. My problem is that the mic will only record up to '-8' on the input level meter.

I just bought my 2nd Samson Q1U mike and for some reason when I'm recording with a filter, you almost have to yell into the mike to get any volume at all.I can't record this way.
